Bird Talk and Pot Luck Dinner with John Boettcher: Sunday, April 19th, 3pm.
Join John as he discusses which birds we might see when sailing on Irondequoit Bay or Lake Ontario.
He will highlight the field marks and behaviors that will help you identify birds. John will also share information about which birds are present as the seasons change, and he will provide key tips on using binoculars.
Lastly, the group will check to see which birds are currently visible and use scopes to get good looks at them. Bring your binoculars!
Participants are asked to bring a dish to pass for the pot luck dinner following John’s talk. Water, ice tea, and coffee will be provided.

Rigging Essentials with Capt. Tom Trovato: Thursday, April 30th, 6-8pm.
Join Capt. Tom Trovato as he discusses the basics of rigging and takes your questions. Capt. Tom will be hosted by Tim Bohr and Doug Dickman.
Tom has agreed to provide us a fun night of activities including:
- Rigging – information on sailboat rigging, both standing and running. Everyone is encouraged to have their specific questions ready!
- Splicing – Our events survey indicated a strong interest in line splicing. Tom will demonstrate how to splice various types of lines. Everyone is encouraged to bring any splicing projects they have and any splicing tools, fids etc. that you have.

Learn Racing Right with Liam on May 7th from 6-8pm.
Join Liam as he shares the basics of racing in a fun and informative session.
Learn the pre-start steps you should take for a successful race and strategies for how to get off to a good start. Liam will discuss why sail trim is so important to racing and demonstrate best practices to WIN!
We will meet in the clubhouse to review best practices and then head out on the water for some Race Committee lingo and strategy with hands on demonstrations.
Water, ice tea, and coffee will be provided.
